Assisting families who have a member undergoing treatment for cancer, and find themselves in a financially difficult situation.
There are many reasons why financial difficulty occurs, eg;

(1) The patient is the bread winner & has used all holiday, sickness & long service pay (where long service has accumulated).
(2) The bread winner becomes the major carer.
(3) In the case of a child, both parents are in Sydney with their child, and while having to pay for everyday living costs there, the bills don’t stop coming for essential services, rent etc; back home.
(4) Single parent who may have to give up work to care for their child.
(5) Single parent still caring for a family, becomes the patient.
Sickness benefits do not go a long way when you are paying rent or a mortgage as well as essential services and trying to cover medical, food, petrol and any other every day living expenses.
The members of the Cancer Support Group work hard to raise funds so we are able to help these patients, and we appreciate the assistance given to us by those non members who help on the day of certain fundraisers.
The ACT Eden Monaro Cancer Support Group appreciates all donations, which help us help these families who are suffering through no fault of their own. Without this most important help, we could not survive and this would be a major disaster to those families needing our support.
